Welcome
Holy Trinity is a friendly, welcoming church with a small but growing congregation ranging in age from 0 to 90. We value rich traditional worship that is “informally formal” and try to explore together what it means to follow Christ today and to grow in our capacity to do so. Come any Sunday at 10am to see for yourself and stay for refreshments after to meet us.

Baptism
In baptism, parents thank God for his gift of life, make a decision to start the child on the journey of faith and ask for the Church's support. In the Anglican Church it is common to baptise young children; this is sometimes known, outside the church, as christening.
Baptism is a 'sacrament' (holy ritual to symbolise grace) in the Christian tradition that is traced back to Jesus himself being baptised in the river Jordan.
At Holy Trinity, baptisms usually take place within one of our 10am Holy Communion services so that the whole church can join in the celebration and share in your joy.
All initial enquiries should be directed to the Parish Administrator.
Confirmation
Confirmation marks the point in the Christian journey where those who have been baptised as children make a firm commitment to Christian discipleship. Adults who have not been baptised as children are usually baptised and confirmed in the same service.
Through prayer and the laying on of hands by a bishop, the Church also asks God to give those being confirmed power, through the Holy Spirit, to live the life of discipleship.
If you are considering Confirmation and would like further information please contact the Parish Priest.
Weddings
You are welcome to marry in the Church of England whatever your beliefs, whether or not you are christened and regardless of whether you go to church or not. It’s your church, and we welcome you!
To get married in Holy Trinity Church one of you must be resident in the Parish of Lyne and Longcross or on the Electoral Roll of the Church or have a qualifying connection with the Parish of Lyne and Longcross.
You will have a qualifying connection with the parish if either of you can show just one of the seven connections with the parish listed below:
that one of you:
· has at any time lived in the parish for a period of at least 6 months or
· was baptised in the parish or
· was prepared for confirmation in the parish or
· has at any time regularly gone to normal church services in the parish church for a period of at least 6 months
or that one of your parents, at any time after you were born:
· has lived in the parish for a period of at least 6 months or
· has regularly gone to normal church services in the parish church for a period of at least 6 months
or that one of your parents or grandparents:
· was married in the parish.
If you wish to claim a qualifying connection in order to get married at Holy Trinity it will be up to you to provide the evidence for the claim and not the responsibility of the Parish Priest to research it.
This all sounds rather legalistic but it actually widens the possible choice of venue for your wedding.
You may not be eligible to be married if:
· one of you has been previously married and your former spouse is still living
· one of you is under eighteen years of age
· one of you is a foreign national.
However, these may not rule out a church marriage and in such circumstances we suggest you come and talk to the Parish Priest who will be pleased to meet you.
Marriages Blessed in Church
If you have chosen a civil wedding, you may consider having your marriage blessed in the church. Many people value the spiritual dimension of the marriage ceremony which a service of blessing can provide. There are no legal requirements for a blessing. The service can be simple and private or formal in the presence of your family and friends with many of the traditional ingredients.
Renewal of Vows
Sometimes people like to mark a special wedding anniversary with a chance to renew their marriage vows. If you would like to consider this please contact the Parish Administrator and the parish priest will be delighted to discuss the possibilities with you.
All initial enquiries should be directed to the Parish Administrator.
