Worshipping God, Nurturing Faith, Serving Others

Toy Service December 2019

Our annual Toy Service supports The Genesis Project.

The Genesis Project is a MU led project in a very disadvantaged area called The Manor in Sheffield.  Every year we collect and send toys at Christmas, to them.  Some toys are distributed directly to families, and others are made available to buy through the Genesis shop, enabling those on low incomes to be able to buy Christmas presents at prices that are affordable.

Income generated from the Genesis shop is ploughed back into other Genesis projects, things as diverse as providing breakfast clubs at the primary school, pensioners hot lunches, and other very local specific community support.

The lady who runs the shop, Joyce, tells us that everyone gets very excited when the van with our donated toys arrives each year and the shop is full to overflowing.

One of our local parishioners made us a large wooden sleigh and each year on the first Sunday in December we have our wonderful Toy Service which fills it with toys.  The sleigh acts as a poignant reminder to our congregation, young and old, of the true meaning of giving at Christmas.

This year on Sunday 1st December, we do hope to welcome you all to Church carrying your unwrapped toys and books ready to place in the sleigh.  The Church is decorated and comes alive with toys as you can see from a previous years......
